1. About Richmax Telcom Services

RICHMAX TELCOM SERVICES offers a fast and convenient way to pay for services like airtime, data, electricity, education, and TV subscriptions (GOtv, DStv, Startimes, etc.).

You can access our services through our website, mobile app, WhatsApp links, and other supported channels.

We also provide tools for you to launch your own VTU website using our free or pro script at vtucreator.com.

2. Information We Collect
  • Account Information: name, username, phone number, email address, and password (stored securely using hashing on our server).
  • Transaction Information: services you buy (airtime, data, bills, subscriptions), amounts, dates, and payment details (we do not store full card or PIN details).
  • Device and App Information: device model, operating system, app version, IP address, and basic technical logs to keep things working and secure.
  • Push Notification Token: a unique Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token so we can send you transaction alerts and important notifications.
  • Chat Content: messages you send to support, including text, images, screenshots, PDFs, voice notes and other media you choose to upload.
  • Usage Data: buttons you tap (for example, funding wallet or buying data), pages you view, and basic analytics used to improve the app.
  • Biometric Usage: we do not store your fingerprint or face data. We only ask the phone to confirm “yes/no” when you use biometric login; all biometric data stays on your device.
  • Cookies and Similar Technologies (on web): used to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and protect your account.
3. How We Use Your Information
  • To create and manage your Richmax account and user profile.
  • To process your airtime, data, electricity, TV and other payments and deliver the service you requested.
  • To show your wallet balance, transaction history, and other account details.
  • To send you transaction alerts, security alerts, and important updates via in-app notifications, push notifications, SMS, email, or WhatsApp where applicable.
  • To remember your device and session so that features like biometric login and quick access work smoothly.
  • To improve app performance, user experience, layout and features based on anonymous usage patterns.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access to your account.
  • To comply with legal, regulatory, or security obligations where required.
4. Device Permissions We Use
  • Camera: used only when you choose to scan QR codes or send photos/screenshots inside chat. We do not access the camera in the background.
  • Microphone: used only when you choose to record and send voice notes to support. We do not listen to you outside the app or without your action.
  • Photos/Media/Files: used when you select images, PDFs or documents from your device to upload in chat or for support. We only read the files you choose.
  • Notifications: used to show push notifications about transactions, security alerts, and important updates. You can control notification settings from your device.
  • Biometrics (Fingerprint/Face ID): used only to confirm your identity on your device so you can log in quickly. Your biometric template never leaves your device.
  • Location (if used): if at any time we request your coarse or fine location, it is only to improve security or tailor some services. We do not track your live movement.
5. Information Sharing
  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We may share limited information with trusted third-party service providers who help us process payments, send notifications, provide analytics, or deliver support.
  • We may share information with law enforcement or regulators if required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
6. Third-Party Services We Use
  • Firebase & Google Services: used for push notifications (FCM), app stability and basic analytics.
  • Payment Processors & Banks: used to handle wallet funding, card payments, and bank transfers securely.
  • Telecom & Service Providers: MTN, Glo, Airtel, 9mobile and others process your airtime/data and related services.
  • Chat & Support Tools: services that help us manage in-app support messages and attachments.
  • Each third-party has its own privacy policy. We work only with providers that take privacy and security seriously.
7. Data Protection & Security
  • We use encryption, access control, and other security measures to protect your data in transit and at rest.
  • We limit access to your information to authorised staff and systems who need it to perform their work.
  • No system is 100% perfect, but we actively monitor for suspicious activities and work to keep your account safe.
  • You should also protect your login details, PINs, devices, and one-time codes and not share them with anyone.
8. Your Rights and Controls
  • You can update your profile details inside your account where options are provided.
  • You can request that we close your account; some data may still be kept where required for legal, regulatory, or security reasons.
  • You can turn off marketing messages (where used) while still receiving important service messages.
  • You can control app permissions (camera, microphone, storage, notifications, location, etc.) from your device settings at any time. Some features may stop working if you remove a required permission.
9. Data Retention
  • We keep your account and transaction data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for accounting, legal and security purposes.
  • Chat messages, voice notes, and uploaded files may be kept as part of your support history so we can assist you better in the future. If you use the “delete conversation” feature in the in-app chat, we remove those messages and media from our active database where technically possible.
  • When data is no longer needed, we take steps to delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible.
10. Third-Party Links

Our app or website may contain links to external sites such as partner platforms or social media.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. Please review their privacy policies before sharing your information there.

11. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not designed for children under 13 years of age.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can delete it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or security practices.

When we make important changes, we will update the effective date at the top and may notify you through the app or other channels.
